Standards for Student Behavior

Chaparral School is a special place for learning. At school, students learn from books and also from meeting different kinds of people. Even though all students and adults that you meet may not become your best friends, it’s still important to get along with everyone.
The way a person feels about going to school depends a lot on how they are treated by the other people at school. It is important to remember that everyone has rights and responsibilities.

Student's Rights and Responsibilities

The following are the rights and responsibilities each student receives. Please read them while asking yourself the question “What kind of school do I want Chaparral to be?”
I have the right to be happy and treated with understanding. I have the responsibility not to hurt others’ feelings by my words or actions.
I have the right to be safe. I have the responsibility to keep my hands and feet to myself and to follow the school rules.
I have the right to be myself. I have the responsibility to treat others equally and fairly regardless of their race, ethnicity, religion, or gender.
I have the right to use the materials and property of this school. I have the responsibility to respect others’ property and to share what is ours.
I have the right to be happy and always to be me. I have the responsibility to be sure others are happy because of me!

Birthday Party and Treat Policy

As our new school year begins, please note that popsicles will be the only treats allowed for student birthday celebrations.  Once you've communicated with your child's teacher and he or she knows that you are bringing popsicles, please bring them to the office (labeled with your student's name and teacher).

Balloon Policy

Please note that Chaparral does not allow balloons on campus.  In addition to being very distracting in classrooms and the potential for latex allergies, we have some little ones who are frightened by them.  Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
